Take Back WYPR Holds Discussion on State of Public Radio with Marc Steiner

On Sunday evening, Feb. 8, 2009 the Take Back WYPR community organization held a forum and discussion at 2640 St. Paul Street on the "precarious state of public radio in Baltimore and across the country, and how to take back the public airwaves and make them a community resource once again." The speakers were Maria Allwine (Take Back WYPR), Max Obuszewski (Take Back WYPR), Gregg Mosson (blog editor of SaveWYPR.com), and Marc Steiner, who—since being fired from WYPR about a year ago—has resurrected his daily radio talk show on WEAA, Morgan State University's public radio station. Steiner answered questions from the audience following his talk. Local folk musician Margie Roswell opened the event with a performance of "This Land is Your Land." The event was cosponsored by the Red Emma's Collective. Other than the event speakers, questions and comments were given by Bill Marker, Kevin Zeese, Doug, Dave Schott, Alan Barysh, Tim from Waverly, Emil Volcheck and others.
